Stanhope Gardens House

London, UK
2024 – 2025

Nestled in the tranquil enclave of Highgate, North London, amidst the stately grandeur of Edwardian architecture, this historic residence from the 1920s embraces a refined transformation. A subdued sanctuary of natural wood materials now graces the space, offering a serene view of the rear garden. Contained by the framework of white plaster ceilings and walls, warm timber oak wall elements, oak flooring, and white marble have been artfully integrated, tailored to the unique requirements of the kitchen. This includes concealed elements and open shelving that echo the intricate details of the client’s cherished collection of 16th-century English and 19th-century Jamaican hand-carved wooden sculptures, fostering a dialogue between the interior and the exquisite artifacts housed within.
