Highgate House

Highgate, London, United Kingdom
2015

Effectively converting the upper levels of this Edwardian house was defining a new programme containing an en suite and a creative studio. On the top floor the original indeterminate room was altered into dual spaces with built in wood cabinets and desks set along the walls acting as minimal installations, liberating the interior volumes.

Natural oiled oak is laid seamlessly throughout the entire floor and staircase treads extending underneath the bespoke sideboards, shelves, dressers and tables constructed using the same wood. Within another central expression, the vertical faces of the millwork are finished white referencing the plaster walls, meanwhile the horizontal sides are intercessory to the natural oak finishes.
