Alternative solutions to constrained habitation spaces is the rationale behind this high-level prototypes internationally patented design for a retractable bed system, which has undergone a series of transmutation processes broadening and integrating ground-breaking methods to its indisputable usefulness. Living quarter’s functions are supplementary adaptable with this lightweight transportable sleeping apparatus that safely rises up to the ceiling by means of an innovative mechanical counter balance weight and motorized crank system.

This bespoke assembly unit can be personalized to a user’s lifestyle and finish preferences of metal, glass, wood and fabric, performing as an installation to any new or existing building’s structure, surface mounted or integrated. The system can also be disengaged from the minimal transparent hanging cables once the sleeping platform has been lowered, flexibly positioning the furniture unit anywhere within a dwelling with lockable pivoting wheels at the bottom of the systems supports. Fully elevated, the hydraulic retractable legs become contextual to the underside when closed, evolving the system’s intention converting into a ceiling or soffit fitted with preferences for illumination, categorically altering its purpose whilst entirely concealing its identity.
